"The old parties are husks, with no real soul within either, divided on artificial lines, boss-ridden and privilege-controlled, each a jumble of incongruous elements, and neither daring to speak out wisely and fearlessly on what should be said on the vital issues of the day."
-Theodore Roosevelt
It's a shame that it has come to this. It's a shame that we are so wrapped up within what political party we belong to that it overrides the actual issues at hand. Is it so crazy to say that this is a day when a new party could arise? We've had enough of extremes and the problems they cause. We're in need of a healthy medium. It is vital that we rid ourselves of career politicians and political pundits and grow on the concept of America first, politics second. We all want change, the problem is how to achieve it. Change can not just be represented socially. Electing an African-American president is not going to solve our world problems unless there is a proposal to change other aspects within him.
Enough with the "woe is me" victim attitiude...Our political parties (which include you) created this mess we're in so it's our job to clean it up. Time to go back to the basics. How did we drive our country into destruction in the first place? Our good old boys and girls in Congress neglected to keep our country afloat over the last few years and we just watched. For God's sake, get off your ass and do something.
It's up to voters and share holders to stand up and address our leaders in government and business. If they can not demonstrate fiscal responsibility or be held accountable for their moral bankrupty (ahem, frauding, scamming) then get rid of them! Hell, throw them to the dogs as they say! Better yet, throw them to the Democrats. It's also neccessary to realize that as of today (whether you like it or not) we are still fighting a war on terror. It is extremely destructive to our economy to remain in the Middle East, however it is destructive to our safety to pull all troops out immediately. A safe middle ground is needed where we must be smart on the execution of this war by watching not to drain our fiscal resources.
When rebuilding from the ground up fiscal backing plays a key role, however by reestablishing our education system quite a large majority of problems will correct themselves. Goals. We need goals. Creating an informed country where working towards eliminating the electoral college is a wonderful one. Note I said, "working towards." By no means is it in any way an even slightly good idea to immediately rely soley on the popular vote. Are you kidding?! If you believe that the majority of our country is educated and informed enough to make an accurate decision on their own, you are insane. Until an educated America can better the country by putting a stop to propaganda the electoral college stays put.
However once able, be ready to attack with full force. Find the bull shit and expose it for what it really is. Pick apart main stream media and career politician's hidden agenda. It's not a secret that the Obama campaign and main stream media were having a love affair. The public was just too naive to notice. The only thing missing from the evening news was "I am Barack Obama, and I approve this message."
The public trust can't continue to lay in the media, they must be able to form their own opinions. Trust is being put in the reporters that are reading off the teleprompters. Since when does a pretty face and strong voice show credibility? We can't just trust that the economy will correct itself once Congress cleans up their act. Unless I've gotten my information wrong we're sending the same guys back to the playing field...For our own sake hopefully by the time our economy really hits rock bottom (you people with money know we're not quite there yet) we'll brainstorm a way to rid ourselves of the idiots we put into Congress. It is time to realize Congress doesn't have the power to replenish retirement funds. There's the real reason stimulous packages are being sent out, to get in bed with the people. Voters, I'm sorry to say I believe this is the day we must mourn the death of critical thinking. I can only hope that in the future we step up and realize our potential.
